Congratulations to the Forest Brewers who won the MWML Summer League 1st grade grand final 9-6 over the Redbacks on Saturday. The team created history for the club by becoming the first Forest team to win the Judy Head Memorial Trophy in its 27 year history.

Performances were led by two of our junior coaches, Dean Storey who pitched 5 innings for the win; and Owen Harris who went 3-3 with the bat and took some crucial catches in the outfield.

The team contained a number of current Forest junior coaches, including Storey (U8 Mariners), Harris (LLMi Rockies) , Shawn Elliott (LLMi Rockies), Rhett Dinsdale (LLMi Rockies), Brook Russell (Int League), PJ Patterson (LLMa Diamondbacks), Sean Chivers (LLMi Astros) and John Farrant (U10 Athletics). Commiserations to Ben Logue (coach of Junior League Cubs) who pitched superbly in a losing effort for the Redbacks.

Special mention to Owen Harris who managed the team on top of his President duties for juniors; and Joe Weller who has overseen the growth and development of Forest senior baseball in the last 18 months to become the largest and most successful senior baseball program on the Northern Beaches.

The Brewers will now contest the NSW Champion of Champions event to be held at Aquatic Baseball Park on 30/31st of March against the best Minor League teams from around the State, including Newcastle, Illawarra, Far North Coast, Pacific Coast. Macarthur and Sydney Metro.

Congratulations to all involved.
